Writing great informative articles and posting them online is a powerful way to exercise your knowledge and build a relationship with like minded readers. They are a great way to drive qualified highly targeted traffic to a web site since the reader already has shown a interest in the content of the article.
The best written article with the best tips, tricks, and how to's won't offer any benefit to anyone if it can't be found in the vast pages of the internet.
Articles must be written around keywords. Keywords are the search terms people type in to their browser when they are looking for something. These keywords are actually the questions people are asking when they are trying to solve a problem. A good example of this would be a term like, "Make Money From Home." When someone types in this search term they are really asking the question, How can I make money from home, or something along these lines.
Great articles answer questions and provide solutions.
So how can we find the search terms people are looking for?
I like to go to a free keyword tool first. Wordtracker offers a free version and we can find it at http://Freekeywords.wordtracker.com/. Type in a general term that relates to your business or topic. The tool will give us a list of keywords that have been used recently on the major search engines relating to this topic.
I pick one of these keywords and type it into google and see the results. I want to look at the number of pages that ranks on google. If there are millions of pages this means there is a great deal of competition and it will be extremely difficult for anyone to find our article when serching on this keyword.
We keep trying different keywords until we found one that has under a hundred thousand pages but preferably less than ten thousand. We also need to have a look at the paid ads which are on across the top and down the right side of the page. If there are a large number listings this is a great keyword for an article and there is profit to be made here because these advertisers wouldn't be here paying for their ads if they weren't making money. Just using common since.
Another great place to find keywords is directly from the heart of google. Type in a search query and look at the terms that appear. These are related terms that are being searched on daily in google with the keywords and phrases with the largest volume of searches at the top with the list descending in order from there. Check out these terms and write articles around them.
These tips should give us a great start in producing traffic thru article writing. Remember repetition breeds perfection so the more we write the better results we'll have.
