If you have been using the internet for any reason at all you have probably had people or businesses asking you to follow them on twitter.
So what is twitter exactly? It is a micro blogging site that uses can write short messages called Tweets to connect with people. This might not be help much if you don't know what a blog is so lets define that first. A blog is sort of like a diary where the owner of the blog can post personal messages, experiences, thoughts and things of interest for others to read and comment on.
The term Blog comes from the words, web log, which is its true name but like everything else on the web or the net it has been shortened or slanged by the users.
Micro means small so a micro blog is simply a small web log.
Twitter has quickly become a place to be for connecting with like minded people and many businesses have found it a great place to find customers wanting the products or services they offer.
If you own a business or want to find out about a business, product, service, what's in the news or pratically anything esle you can think of, its time to start "tweeting."
So lets get started and go on over to http://twitter.com and sign up.
Once you are on the twitter site you will be asked to join the conversation. Click on the sign up now button and simply follow the directions for creating an account.
An important thing to note is where it says create a username, make sure you choose a name that others will use to find you. If your branding your own name, company or product this is what you will want to use. I use http://twitter.com/@stevekimball so people will know me by my name.
